Job Title: Town Planner | Senior Town Planner

Location: Cheltenham (Hybrid Working)

About the Opportunity

Penguin Recruitment is delighted to be supporting a well-established, family-owned property company with an enviable reputation in the property development sector.

Specialising in the acquisition and delivery of consented land to housebuilders, alongside the investment and development of land and properties for the commercial property market, the business has a proven track record of creating innovative land and property solutions that maximise returns for landowners, occupiers and investors.

The Role

We are looking for an enthusiastic Planner or Senior Planner to join a busy and dynamic Land and Planning team. This is an excellent opportunity to join an established property business and play a key role in bringing forward land and property opportunities, securing planning consents and supporting the delivery of exciting development projects.

The successful candidate will work across a varied portfolio of residential and commercial projects, contributing to the planning process from initial site appraisals and feasibility through to the submission and determination of planning applications.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supporting the identification, appraisal and promotion of new land and property opportunities.
  • Managing and coordinating planning applications and associated planning strategies.
  • Liaising with local planning authorities, consultants, landowners, housebuilders and other key stakeholders.
  • Undertaking planning policy research and assessing development potential.
  • Coordinating external consultants and managing project programmes.
  • Preparing reports, presentations and planning-related documentation.
  • Monitoring changes to planning policy and legislation and assessing their implications for development opportunities.
  • Supporting the wider Land and Planning team in the acquisition and delivery of development sites.
About You

We are looking for a motivated and commercially minded planning professional with a genuine interest in property development and the planning process.

Ideally, you will have:

  • Experience in a Town Planning role, within either the private or public sector.
  • A relevant degree or equivalent qualification in Town Planning or a related discipline.
  • A good understanding of the UK planning system and planning policy.
  • Excellent communication, organisational and report-writing skills.
  • The ability to manage competing priorities and work effectively as part of a team.
  • A proactive approach, strong analytical skills and an eye for identifying development opportunities.

Applications are welcomed from both Planners and Senior Planners, with responsibilities and levels of autonomy reflecting the successful candidate's experience.

The Opportunity

This is an opportunity to join a respected property business with a long-standing reputation for delivering innovative land and property solutions. You will gain exposure to a diverse range of residential and commercial development projects, working alongside an experienced team and contributing to projects that create lasting value for landowners, occupiers and investors.
