Senior Systems Developer (Python / PostgreSQL) Location: Bury St Edmunds, hybrid working available | Salary: Competitive + excellent benefits We’re partnering with a well-established UK infrastructure group, committed to supporting the UK’s net zero ambitions, to find a Senior Systems Developer. You’ll lead the design, engineering and support of an established product suite and help shape development standards across the wider IT function. The role This is a senior position with technical ownership and influence. You’ll design and build full-stack solutions, work with product owners and stakeholders to make sure they deliver, and act as a role model and mentor for colleagues. * Design, code, test and refactor complex programs, scripts and integrations * Help select and champion development methods, tools and standards * Maintain and administer release, deployment and configuration tooling * Capture and share specialist knowledge, and run knowledge-sharing across the team * Maintain application support processes so incidents are contained and requests met * Drive continual improvement and contribute to departmental policy What you’ll bring * Experience designing large or complex systems, weighing functional and non-functional requirements * Strong server-side development experience, ideally Python * Advanced SQL skills, ideally PostgreSQL, including performance tuning and database management * Client-side experience (React, jQuery, JavaScript, CSS/Bootstrap) * CI/CD experience with Azure DevOps or Jenkins * Git, including branching and code review in a multi-developer team * Understanding of secure development (OWASP Top 10) * Experience integrating multiple systems * Experience in agile, kanban, scrum or waterfall environments * Experience supporting software to SLA, working directly with customers * Calm, clear communication with technical and non-technical audiences * A degree in IT or equivalent industry experience Desirable * System design using UML/C4 * Microservice architecture experience, built to scale * RESTful API experience * ITIL 4 Foundation or ITSM/service desk experience What’s on offer * Annual cost of living pay review * Pension contributions of up to 10% when you contribute 5% * 33 days holiday including bank holidays, with the option to buy 2 more weeks * Enhanced family leave pay * Hybrid working for eligible roles * Development opportunities to support your career goals To apply: Send your CV to Fintan at TEC Partners for a confidential conversation
