RG Consultancy are currently working with a fantastic growing SME in Wilmslow who are looking to recruit a Management Accountant to join their small growing finance team. You will support the Financial Director in the day-to-day running of the finance function, playing a key role in maintaining accurate financial information and supporting the wider business

Role Responsibilities

• Take ownership of the monthly management accounts process, producing accurate and timely financial reports for review by the Finance Director
• Manage the month-end close, including journals, accruals, prepayments, general ledger maintenance and balance sheet reconciliations
• Prepare and review balance sheet reconciliations, investigate variances and ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial information
• Support the annual budgeting process and ongoing financial forecasts, working with the Finance Director and budget holders to monitor performance against plan
• Analyse monthly financial results, identify key variances, trends and risks, and provide meaningful commentary to support business decision-making
• Manage the in-house monthly payroll process, ensuring accurate and timely processing, compliance with statutory requirements and appropriate controls
• Prepare and maintain cash flow forecasts, monitor cash balances and working capital, and highlight potential cash flow risks to the Finance Director
• Oversee day-to-day purchase ledger, sales ledger and credit control activities, ensuring timely supplier payments, customer invoicing and effective debt collection
• Prepare VAT returns and ensure compliance with relevant tax, accounting and statutory reporting requirements
• Coordinate year-end accounts preparation and support the annual external audit, working closely with the Finance Director and external accountants or auditors
• Maintain effective financial controls, accounting procedures and accurate financial records, ensuring compliance with company policies and relevant regulations
• Work closely with operational managers to monitor costs, improve financial performance and provide financial insight to support commercial decisions.
• Identify and implement improvements to finance processes, systems and reporting to increase efficiency, accuracy and control
• Provide ad-hoc financial analysis, reporting and modelling to support business planning and management decisions
• Support the Finance Director with financial reporting, business planning, risk identification and other finance-related projects as required

Person Specification

• CIMA/ACCA/ACA qualified or studying would be an advantage
• Previous work experience within a management accountant or similar financial management role
• Strong IT skills including SAP, MS Excel. Experience using or implantation of new AI systems would be an advantage
• Experience working within an IT/technology/software business would be an advantage
