Reeson Education is seeking a SEN Teaching Assistant who can help primary pupils build stronger reading, writing and mathematics skills across Portsmouth, Hampshire.

We are keen to hear from a SEN Teaching Assistant with intervention experience and a practical approach to helping pupils close learning gaps.

• Position: SEN Teaching Assistant
• Pay: £80-£100 per day, depending on experience and assignment.
• Location: Portsmouth, Hampshire.
• Start: ASAP, following registration and safeguarding checks.
• Contract: Flexible supply and longer-term opportunities, depending on vacancies.

Your Role as a SEN Teaching Assistant

You will deliver teacher-led literacy and numeracy interventions for pupils needing additional support, including pupils with SEND.

• Lead structured one-to-one and small-group sessions under teacher guidance.
• Support phonics, reading fluency, comprehension and early writing.
• Use practical resources to develop number knowledge and mathematical confidence.
• Track progress, adjust agreed activities and report next steps to the class teacher.

What We're Looking For in a SEN Teaching Assistant

• Experience as a SEN Teaching Assistant, or relevant school, tutoring or literacy and numeracy intervention experience.
• A SEN Teaching Assistant who explains ideas clearly and helps pupils attempt tasks with greater independence.
• Strong literacy and numeracy skills; familiarity with phonics or intervention programmes is advantageous.
• Safeguarding awareness and an enhanced DBS on the update service, or willingness to apply for one.
