Senior Purchasing Manager
Location: Lincoln
Salary: £55,000 to £60,000 per annum

The opportunity

Elevation Recruitment Group is working with a well-established manufacturing business in Lincoln to appoint a Senior Purchasing Manager. This is a key leadership role with ownership of the company’s purchasing strategy, supplier base and spend. You will lead a team of four and have real influence on cost, quality and continuity of supply.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, develop and motivate a team of four buyers and purchasing staff, setting clear objectives and managing performance
• Develop and deliver a purchasing strategy that supports production demand, cost targets and business growth
• Manage supplier relationships and negotiate pricing, terms and long-term agreements to secure savings and favourable commercial outcomes
• Oversee supplier performance, setting KPIs and addressing delivery, quality or cost issues
• Work closely with Production, Planning, Engineering and Finance to ensure materials are available when needed
• Manage purchasing budgets and spend, reporting on savings, cost reduction and risk
• Identify and mitigate supply chain risk, including dual-sourcing and contingency planning
• Drive continuous improvement in purchasing processes, systems and data accuracy
• Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures and quality standards

About you

• Proven experience in a senior purchasing, procurement or buying role within a manufacturing environment
• Previous experience managing and developing a team
• Strong commercial and negotiation skills, with a track record of delivering measurable savings
• Good understanding of MRP/ERP systems and working with production and planning teams
• Analytical and numerate, comfortable using data to inform decisions
• Confident communicator able to influence at all levels, from suppliers to senior management
• CIPS qualification is desirable but not essential
