Hours: 40 Hours per Week (Typically 08:00-16:00 or 07:00-15:00)

Rate: £340 per day PAYE or £463.40 per day Umbrella

We are seeking experienced Safe System of Work Planners / Work Planners to support a busy rail infrastructure maintenance delivery team on the Elizabeth Line. The successful candidates will play a key role in planning maintenance activities, creating Safe System of Work (SSOW) packs, coordinating work orders, and ensuring activities are delivered safely and efficiently.

This is a planning-focused role based entirely in the office and would suit candidates with a Network Rail planning background who are comfortable working with rail industry systems, safety documentation, and asset management platforms.

Key Responsibilities

• Produce and maintain short, medium and long-term maintenance plans.
• Create and issue Safe System of Work (SSOW) packs and supporting documentation.
• Plan and coordinate maintenance work orders.
• Support possession and access planning activities.
• Produce risk assessments, method statements and hazard documentation.
• Attend planning meetings and liaise with operational delivery teams.
• Ensure compliance with Network Rail and Elizabeth Line safety standards.
• Support maintenance delivery managers with planning and operational requirements.
• Manage planning records and documentation using Microsoft Office and SharePoint.

Essential Requirements

• Network Rail Safe System of Work Planner (SSOWP) competence.
• PTS (Personal Track Safety).
• Valid Sentinel Card.
• Experience within rail infrastructure maintenance planning.
• Experience creating Safe Work Packs / SSOW Packs.
• Strong understanding of possession planning and maintenance scheduling.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and SharePoint.
• Excellent organisational and communication skills.

Desirable Experience

• Possession Planning System (PPS).
• Maximo.
• SAP.
• Ellipse.
• Experience working on the Elizabeth Line.
• Network Rail infrastructure experience.
• London Underground interface experience.

Working Arrangements

• 100% office-based role
• Monday to Friday
• No hybrid or remote working available
• Attendance at Plumstead Depot required

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate will come from a Network Rail or rail infrastructure background and hold current SSOW Planner and PTS competencies. They will be experienced in creating safe work packs, planning maintenance activities, and working with rail safety documentation. Experience with Maximo or similar asset management systems would be highly advantageous.
