Assistant Management Accountant | Stokesley (Hybrid) | £34,000 - £38,000
If you enjoy getting stuck into the numbers but don't want to spend your days just ticking things off a checklist, this could be worth a look.
I’m currently recruiting for an established business in Stokesley looking for an Assistant Management Accountant to work closely with the Finance Manager and help improve how the finance function operates.
There’s a good mix here: hands-on accounting, month-end and reporting, alongside the chance to make a genuine difference to processes that are currently quite manual.
You’ll also help support colleagues across purchase and sales ledger, with scope to get involved in budgeting, cash flow and understanding project profitability as the role develops.
What you'll be doing:
- Support monthly management accounts and month-end processes
- Prepare journals, accruals and prepayments
- Complete balance sheet and cash reconciliations
- Investigate variances and help improve the quality of financial reporting
- Support budgeting, forecasting and cash flow reporting
- Review manual processes across purchase ledger, sales ledger and month-end
- Help improve controls, procedures and the way the team works
- Develop reporting around project costs, WIP, billing and profitability
- Provide day-to-day guidance and support to two finance colleagues
What they're looking for:
- AAT qualified or qualified by experience
- Those studying towards CIMA or ACCA will also be considered
- Good grounding in core accounting, reconciliations and month-end
- Confident using Excel and working with financial information
- Someone who questions how things are done and looks for practical improvements
- A patient, confident communicator who can bring people along with change
- Experience supporting or mentoring colleagues would be a bonus
What you'll get:
- £34,000–£38,000 salary
- Hybrid working, with 2 days from home
- Potential study support
- A varied role with scope to improve processes rather than just maintain them
- The opportunity to build experience in budgeting, cash flow and commercial analysis
- A chance to develop your skills while helping a finance team work more effectively
- Potential travel to other sites as required
If you’re an Assistant Accountant ready to take the next step, or an experienced finance professional who enjoys improving processes as much as getting the numbers right, I’d be keen to have a chat.
