Contract Assistant Accountant - Reconciliations

Haywards Heath

£30,000-32,000 (negotiable)

Start date: Immediate - candidates must be available now or on a maximum of 1–2 weeks’ notice.

The Opportunity

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a readily available finance professional to join the finance shared service centre of a leading international group. Reporting to the Finance Manager, you’ll prepare accurate monthly reconciliations across different business units and e-commerce operations for a portfolio of well-known brands. You’ll link high-level reconciliations to detailed transactional reconciliations and report any differences to management and the Financial Controller.

This is a fast-paced role in a growing team, ideal for someone who enjoys getting to the bottom of the numbers and can hit the ground running.

Key Responsibilities

  • Preparing monthly high-level and detailed reconciliations for business units and e-commerce partners, and linking the two together
  • Gathering and analysing third-party concession statements to make sure the correct data feeds into the reconciliations
  • Generating third-party self-billing invoices and posting journals in SAP
  • Allocating monthly remittance payments and supporting the month-end process
  • Monitoring customer deposit balances and chasing aged items to resolution
  • Investigating discrepancies and escalating issues promptly where needed
  • Liaising with third-party partners and internal operations teams to resolve queries
  • Supporting internal and external audit queries
  • Keeping reconciliation processes and documentation up to date
  • Providing cover for other team members as required

About You

  • Experience preparing both high-level and detailed reconciliations
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to analyse financial data accurately
  • Advanced Excel skills, including VLOOKUPs, SUMIFs, pivot tables and building formula-driven files
  • Confident communicator who builds good relationships with internal and external contacts
  • Able to work independently with minimal supervision, while also being a positive team player
  • Committed to meeting reporting deadlines
  • Adaptable, with an interest in developing tools to streamline processes
