JOB TITLE: LEGAL CASHIER – Hybrid after probation

SALARY: up to £38,000

HOURS OF WORK: 9am – 5.30pm

We are looking for an experienced and motivated Legal Cashier to join our team. Working closely with the Senior Cashier and Accounts Manager, you will play an important role in supporting the smooth running of the firm’s financial operations and delivering a high level of service to both internal and external clients.

The role will be office-based initially, with the opportunity to move to a hybrid working arrangement following successful completion of the initial period, including two days working from home.

Main Purpose of the role:

To provide support to the Senior Cashier and the Accounts Manager in the fast, efficient and professional accounting service offered to the Firm, including responsibility for the successful completion of time-critical projects

JOB DESCRIPTION:

• To liaise with the firm’s bank in connection with incoming and outgoing CHAPS payments, inform the relevant fee earners, and post the same to relevant ledgers, ensuring monies are available when CHAPS payments are outgoing.
• Preparation of daily office and client account banking.
• Inputting and authorising payments from both client and office accounts when requested.
• Purchase Ledger Invoices and Payments by BACS, and also allocating Direct Debits.
• Issue of petty cash monies as and when requested and to ensure sufficient monies are available at all times.
• To ensure that all client-to-office transfers are carried out as and when required.
• Answer internal and external accounts queries.
• Posting all receipts to the appropriate computer ledgers on the same day.
• Checking bills for most departments and posting the same, ensuring fee earners are allocated their relevant costs.
• Posting of Searches, Court Fees, Companies House and Land Registry charges to the correct ledgers on a daily basis.
• Assist with month end and any other duties as required by the Senior Cashiers.
• Payment of Office Account Disbursements (Medicals, Counsel’s Fees) and billing with VAT

PERSON SPECIFICATION:

• Looking for a candidate who has solid experience in legal cashiering or legal accounts
• Strong attention to detail.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Proficient in using case management systems
• Proactive, adaptable, and calm under pressure, with good problem-solving abilities.
