Finance Assistant

The role: The Accounts Assistant will support the operations of the finance function by ensuring the timely and accurate processing of financial transactions, maintaining strong relationships with suppliers and stakeholders, and upholding robust financial controls.

Duties:

• Process and record supplier invoices
• Process supplier payments in accordance with payment schedules
• Handle telephone enquiries relating to supplier accounts and payments
• Maintain supplier records and perform supplier onboarding checks
• Verification of supplier bank details
• Reconcile supplier statements and investigate outstanding items
• Distribute incoming post and ensure finance-related correspondence is dealt with promptly
• Carry out HMRC supplier verification procedures in relation to the Construction Industry Scheme
• Perform bank reconciliations and support treasury activities
• Process managing agent statements and perform receipt reconciliations
• Prepare and record quarterly prepayments and accruals and perform balance sheet reconciliations, as required
• Assist with accounts receivable activities, as required
• Ensure compliance with financial controls, company policies and audit requirements
• Support the wider finance team with ad hoc duties and reporting requirements

Skills, Experience & Qualifications

• Prior experience in an accounts payable/ purchase ledger role required
• Accuracy and excellent attention to detail
• Organised mindset with the ability to multi-task and prioritise tasks from different stakeholders effectively
• Strong communication skills with the ability to build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders
• Proactive team player with a solutions focused mindset
• Reverse charge VAT and Construction Industry Scheme (CIS) knowledge preferred

Interview process:

• 1st stage on Teams/Zoom
• 2nd stage held face to face in the office
