Management Accountant (Public Sector)

Our client seeks to appoint a Management Accountant to oversee the College’s Finance Business Partner and have oversight of the College’s Accounts Receivable and Student Finance sections. This role is crucial for leading the production of monthly management accounts and providing financial advice and support across the College.

Day-to-day of the role:

• Lead the production of monthly management accounts
• Provide advice on the management and control of internal budgets
• Develop cost allocation methodologies to support profitability analysis and achieve planned margins
• Maintain and develop finance reports, including writing new standard and ad hoc reports as required
• Assist in cash flow forecasting and the preparation of statutory financial accounts
• Prepare annual budgets for the College and individual departments, and provide analysis to assist with financial planning
• Support budget holders and management in financial planning and forecasting for individual cost centres
• Attend and support budget meetings, providing financial information and reports for ongoing financial planning
• Develop policies and procedures for college budgets and forecasts, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and regulations

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• Must be a fully qualified accountant and a full, current member of a recognized professional body such as Chartered Accountants Ireland, The Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales, or similar.
• A minimum of two years’ post-qualification experience in a large and complex organization, including experience in preparing management accounts, preparing budgets, and providing professional advice on budgetary issues.
• Detailed knowledge of financial control and accounting systems, and the ability to advise on financial and resource management matters at a senior level.
• Highly effective presentation and communication skills, capable of influencing a wide range of stakeholders.
• Excellent IT skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office packages.
