Are you an experienced Project Manager with a strong background in rail infrastructure, civils and buildings, looking to take on a major multidisciplinary station improvement project?   Do you have proven experience delivering complex construction schemes, managing site teams and coordinating multiple engineering disciplines within a live rail environment?   Would you be interested in joining an established rail infrastructure contractor to deliver a significant station canopy renewals programme, with a strong pipeline of work potentially extending into the next Network Rail control period?   Location: Crewe, with occasional travel to Chorley and potential hybrid working Salary: £60,000 to £65,000 per annum DOE, with flexibility up to £75,000 for an exceptional candidate Benefits: ·£6,827 annual car allowance or company car ·26 days annual leave, with the option to purchase an additional 5 days ·4.5% employer pension contribution ·£150 health cashback plan ·Potential hybrid working arrangements once established within the project team ·Opportunity to work on a significant, long-term multidisciplinary rail infrastructure programme   Role Overview: My client is looking to appoint an experienced Project Manager to join its established rail infrastructure delivery team, supporting the successful delivery of the Crewe Station Canopy Renewals project.   This is a major multidisciplinary infrastructure scheme involving the replacement and renewal of station canopies within a complex operational railway environment. The project incorporates civils, buildings, structural works, Overhead Line Equipment (OLE), telecommunications, Electrification & Plant (E&P) and mechanical and electrical installations.   The initial phase of the programme is valued at approximately £8m in construction works, with a further £15m anticipated during phase two, extending through the remainder of Network Rail's CP7 control period to March 2029. There is also potential for a further £30m of works during CP8, providing the opportunity to contribute to a substantial programme with long-term continuity.   The successful candidate will join an established project delivery team of approximately 10 professionals, working alongside the Senior Project Manager, Design Project Manager, site management, commercial and planning teams.   You will take responsibility for coordinating construction activities, managing delivery teams and ensuring that the various engineering disciplines are effectively integrated throughout the project lifecycle.   This position would particularly suit a Project Manager who has progressed through a traditional construction delivery background, ideally starting in site engineering before moving into Sub-Agent, Agent and Project Management positions. A strong understanding of civils and buildings is particularly important, alongside the ability to manage multidisciplinary interfaces and complex construction activities.   Previous experience operating as a Construction Responsible Engineer (CRE-C), or working towards this competency, would be advantageous. However, the client is primarily seeking a strong Project Manager with an appreciation of the responsibilities associated with the CRE-C function, rather than requiring someone who is already fully signed off.   The role will be predominantly based at Crewe Station, with occasional attendance at the Chorley office, potentially one day every couple of weeks. An initial full-time site presence is preferred to develop an understanding of the project and establish relationships with the delivery team, although greater flexibility and hybrid working may be available once established.   This is a permanent opportunity for a hands-on Project Manager who enjoys being involved in construction delivery, takes ownership of project performance and thrives in a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment.   Key Responsibilities: ·Manage the successful delivery of multidisciplinary rail infrastructure works, ensuring projects are completed safely, efficiently and in accordance with programme, budget and quality requirements. ·Oversee construction activities associated with the Crewe Station Canopy Renewals scheme, including civils, structural, buildings and associated railway systems works. ·Coordinate multiple engineering disciplines, including OLE, telecommunications, E&P and M&E, ensuring interfaces are effectively managed throughout construction. ·Lead and support site delivery teams, including Agents, Sub-Agents, engineers, subcontractors and specialist delivery partners. ·Develop, monitor and manage construction programmes, identifying potential delays and implementing appropriate mitigation measures. ·Work closely with the Senior Project Manager, Design Project Manager and wider project team to coordinate design, planning and construction activities. ·Ensure all construction works are delivered in accordance with Network Rail standards, relevant engineering requirements and project specifications. ·Manage construction risks, site constraints, access arrangements and operational interfaces within a live railway station environment. ·Oversee health, safety, environmental and quality performance, ensuring compliance with company procedures and industry regulations. ·Coordinate subcontractors and specialist contractors, monitoring performance, productivity and progress against agreed deliverables. ·Support the administration and management of NEC contracts, including change management, early warnings and contractual obligations. ·Work collaboratively with commercial teams to monitor project costs, manage variations and maintain effective financial control. ·Review construction methodologies, temporary works requirements, risk assessments and method statements to ensure safe and efficient delivery. ·Liaise with Network Rail, designers, engineering teams and other stakeholders to resolve technical and operational challenges. ·Provide accurate progress reporting, highlighting programme performance, key risks, resource requirements and potential delivery issues. ·Support the transition between project phases, contributing to construction planning, resource allocation and delivery strategy for future works. ·Promote a positive and accountable team culture, encouraging collaboration, ownership and continuous improvement.   Essential Requirements: ·Proven experience operating as a Project Manager delivering rail infrastructure, civils, buildings or structural engineering projects. ·A strong construction delivery background, with demonstrable experience managing site activities, construction teams and subcontractors. ·Experience delivering multidisciplinary construction projects, with the ability to coordinate multiple engineering disciplines and manage complex interfaces. ·Good technical understanding of civil engineering, structural works and buildings construction. ·Experience managing construction programmes, project resources, health and safety, quality and delivery performance. ·A strong understanding of construction methodologies, engineering principles and practical site management. ·Experience working within a main contractor or subcontractor environment on complex infrastructure projects. ·SMSTS certification. ·Strong knowledge of construction health and safety requirements, risk management and safe systems of work.   Desired Requirements: ·Previous experience delivering construction projects within operational railway stations or other complex live rail environments. ·A background progressing through Site Engineer, Sub-Agent or Agent positions before moving into Project Management. ·Previous experience undertaking a Construction Responsible Engineer (CRE-C) role, working towards CRE-C competency or a good understanding of the responsibilities involved. ·Experience working on station canopy renewals, structural refurbishment, buildings or associated railway infrastructure schemes. ·Knowledge of OLE, telecommunications, E&P and M&E interfaces within multidisciplinary railway projects. ·Previous experience working within an NEC contracting environment, including an understanding of early warnings, compensation events and contractual administration. ·A valid Personal Track Safety (PTS) certification, although candidates with lapsed PTS and a strong rail background will also be considered. ·Temporary Works Coordinator (TWC) certification or relevant temporary works management experience. ·An HNC, HND or degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or a related engineering discipline, although formal qualifications are not essential where suitable experience can be demonstrated.   Additional Information: This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Project Manager looking to take responsibility for a significant multidisciplinary rail infrastructure project with an established contractor.   With an initial £8m construction phase, a further £15m anticipated through CP7 and the potential for an additional £30m programme during CP8, the position offers exposure to complex engineering works and the opportunity to contribute to a long-term programme of station improvements.   The client is particularly interested in candidates with strong practical construction experience, an engineering-led background and the ability to bring together multiple disciplines within a challenging operational railway environment.   If you are interested in applying for this role, please email your CV to Brooke Stell at Carrington West or call (phone number removed) for a confidential discussion
