About Us
Carbometrics is a Bristol-based chemistry company designing and synthesising highly selective binding molecules for cutting-edge sensors used in hospitals, medical devices, bioprocessing and industry. Our mission is to help people with diabetes and other conditions live longer, more comfortable lives through better real-time monitoring of key analytes such as glucose. Built on over 20 years of research from Professor Anthony Davis’ group at the University of Bristol (Davis et al., Nature Chemistry, 11, 52-56, 2018), our Biomimetic Glucose Binding Molecules underpin a platform capable of delivering a market-leading Continuous Glucose Monitor. The same core technology, developed through our predecessor company Ziylo, was acquired by Novo Nordisk for smart insulins (Slaaby et al., Nature, 634, 944-951, 2024). We have since expanded into potassium, lactate, pH, CO and calcium, building toward the most comprehensive continuously monitored sensor array for medical use.
