Management Accountant | Nottingham (NG2) | £35,000 – £45,000 + Bonus + Private Medical

Macildowie is working exclusively and in partnership with Excellerate Bioscience to recruit their first in-house Management Accountant.

Excellerate is a Nottingham-based drug discovery business. They carry out specialist biology and pharmacology research for pharmaceutical and biotech clients around the world. Since starting in 2016 they’ve grown quickly, and they now own two purpose-built sites on NG2 Business Park with plans to expand even further.

With the growth of the business at this stage, they are looking for a Management Accountant to take it on and build it properly.

What you’ll be doing

• Setting up and running month-end in Sage 50: journals, accruals, prepayments and reconciliations
• Bringing the monthly management accounts in-house and adding commentary
• Owning client invoicing: standardising it, moving it from Excel into Sage, and making sure every billable item is captured
• Producing client reports and managing budgets for key clients
• Building reporting that helps the labs run more efficiently
• Supporting budgets, forecasts, cash reporting, credit control and VAT
• Improving and automating processes as the business grows

What you’ll need

• Hands-on experience of running month-end in Sage
• Strong Excel and confidence with numbers
• A proactive approach, with the confidence to take ownership and improve things
• Experience in an SME, or a wish to move from a narrow role into a broader one
• AAT, part-qualified (CIMA/ACCA) or qualified by experience. A formal qualification isn’t essential.

You don’t need a science background, just an interest in what the business does.
