Finance Manager - Stock Accounting Focus Site based

We are seeking a hands-on experienced contractor interested in joining as a fast-paced FMCG business as Finance Manager. The position has a strong emphasis on stock accounting, inventory valuation and month-end financial control and candidates will only be considered who can demonstrate such experience. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced finance professional to support accurate financial reporting, strengthen processes and drive improvements across the finance function.
Key Responsibilities
Take ownership of stock accounting, including inventory valuations, reconciliations and month-end stock reporting.
Oversee stock-related journals, Goods Received Not Invoiced (GRNI) and key balance sheet reconciliations.
Investigate stock variances, identify discrepancies and provide clear financial analysis and commentary.
Support the preparation of monthly management accounts, variance analysis and performance reporting.
Work closely with operational and commercial teams to improve stock accuracy, financial controls and reporting processes.
Identify opportunities to streamline month-end procedures, improve data quality and enhance reporting through Excel, ERP systems and automation.
Candidate Profile
Qualified accountant (CIMA, ACCA, ACA or equivalent), with strong management accounting experience.
Demonstrable experience in stock accounting and inventory valuation, ideally within FMCG, food, manufacturing or retail.
Strong understanding of stock reconciliations, GRNI and month-end financial controls.
Excellent analytical skills, attention to detail and advanced Excel capability.
A proactive, hands-on approach, with the ability to investigate issues and improve processes in a fast-paced environment.
