Job Description

We are currently recruiting experienced and passionate Children’s Social Workers to join local authority teams across Family Support, Looked After Children (LAC) and Children with Disabilities (CWD) services.

These opportunities are ideal for dedicated social workers who are committed to safeguarding children, promoting positive outcomes and supporting children and families through challenging circumstances.

Depending on the team, you will work with children and families requiring early intervention and family support, children who are looked after by the local authority, or children with disabilities and their families.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage a varied caseload of children and families, ensuring their safety and wellbeing remain the priority.
  • Complete assessments, care plans and reviews in line with statutory requirements and local authority procedures.
  • Safeguard children and respond appropriately to concerns regarding risk, abuse or neglect.
  • Work collaboratively with parents, carers, schools, health professionals and other partner agencies.
  • Develop and implement child-centred plans that promote stability, permanency and positive outcomes.
  • Undertake visits to children and families and maintain accurate, timely case records.
  • Participate in multi-agency meetings, child protection conferences, reviews and court proceedings where required.
  • Support children in care and care leavers, where relevant to the team.
  • Work with children with disabilities and their families to assess needs, coordinate support and promote independence and inclusion, where relevant to the team.
  • Provide practical guidance and support to families to help strengthen relationships and improve outcomes for children.
Requirements
  • A recognised Social Work qualification.
  • Registration with Social Work England.
  • Previous experience working within a children’s social care setting.
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation, safeguarding procedures and statutory guidance.
  • Strong assessment, communication and report-writing skills.
  • The ability to manage a caseload effectively and work independently as well as part of a team.
  • A commitment to child-centred practice and safeguarding.
