A well-established firm of Chartered Accountants in Uckfield is looking for an Accounts Senior to join its accounts team. It still has the personal feel of a long-standing independent practice, but it’s now part of a larger, growing group. That means real investment, specialists to lean on and more room to progress than you’d usually find in a firm this size. You’ll look after your own portfolio of owner-managed and SME clients and be their go-to contact day to day. There’s plenty of variety, proper client contact, and the chance to get stuck into tax and more complex work alongside managers and partners. What you’ll be doing Managing your own client portfolio and handling their day-to-day accounting queries Preparing year-end and management accounts for owner-managed businesses and SMEs Preparing corporation tax computations and returns, with some personal tax work Reviewing bookkeeping records and sorting out discrepancies Supporting managers and partners on more complex assignments Helping to develop junior members of the team What you’ll need Accounts preparation experience in UK practice, ideally running your own portfolio AAT qualified, part-qualified ACA or ACCA, or equivalent practical experience Sound knowledge of UK accounting standards Good organisation and confidence dealing with clients What’s on offer Salary up to £45,000 Hybrid working No late-hours culture Approachable partners and managers, many of whom started out as trainees themselves A development path built around you, backed by the wider group CPD throughout the year, and you can put forward courses you’d like to do A sociable team with its own social club If you want a role where you own your work and still have a life outside it, give me a call or drop me an email for a confidential chat
