About the Opportunity

An established and growing SME is seeking an experienced Finance Manager to lead its finance function and play a key role within the senior leadership team. This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially minded finance professional who enjoys working in a hands-on environment and influencing business performance through accurate financial reporting, cash flow management, and strategic financial planning.

Reporting directly to the Managing Director, you will take ownership of the company's financial operations while supporting business growth, process improvement, and informed decision making.

Key Responsibilities

• Produce monthly management accounts and financial reports for senior stakeholders.
• Manage cash flow, forecasting, and budgeting processes.
• Monitor business performance against budgets and provide commercial insights.
• Ensure compliance with VAT, PAYE, Corporation Tax and statutory reporting requirements.
• Manage credit control activities and maintain healthy cash collection performance.
• Oversee stock accounting, inventory controls and work-in-progress reporting.
• Liaise with external accountants, auditors, payroll providers and insurance partners.
• Lead and develop the finance team, promoting a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
• Strengthen financial systems, controls and reporting processes across the business.
• Support wider business initiatives through financial analysis and strategic insight.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will ideally have:

• ACCA, CIMA qualified or QBE.
• Experience producing management accounts and financial reporting packs.
• Strong cash flow management, budgeting and forecasting experience.
• Sound knowledge of VAT, PAYE and statutory financial compliance.
• Advanced Excel skills and strong analytical capability.
• Experience improving financial controls and reporting processes.
• Excellent organisational and communication skills
• Experience working within an SME environment.
• Previous people management or supervisory experience.
• Experience supporting business improvement projects and financial planning initiatives.
