Hays Education are working in partnership with a specialist SEND school in Blackburn to recruit a dedicated and proactive School Site Supervisor. This is an exciting opportunity to join a supportive and highly regarded school that provides specialist education for children and young people with additional needs. The school is seeking a reliable and hands-on individual who takes pride in maintaining a safe, secure and welcoming learning environment for both pupils and staff.

Your new role

As School Site Supervisor, you will play a key role in the day-to-day management and upkeep of the school site, ensuring the premises remain safe, compliant and fit for purpose. Working hours are Monday to Thursday: 8:00am - 4:00pm and Friday: 8:00am - 3:30pm - this is ideally a full-year role, but there may be some flexibility to offer a term time only role.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Opening and securing the school site daily
• Carrying out routine maintenance, repairs and general caretaking duties
• Monitoring the condition of buildings, grounds and facilities
• Conducting regular health and safety checks and maintaining compliance records
• Managing site security and responding to any maintenance or security concerns
• Liaising with contractors and overseeing works carried out on site
• Supporting with planned preventative maintenance schedules
• Assisting with room setups, furniture moves and school events as required
• Maintaining a clean, safe and welcoming environment for pupils, staff and visitors
• Supporting the school in meeting all statutory health and safety requirements

What you'll need to succeed

To be successful in this role, you will:

• Have previous experience in a school site supervisor, caretaker, facilities or estates role
• Possess good practical maintenance and DIY skills
• Have a strong understanding of health and safety requirements
• Be organised, reliable and able to work independently
• Demonstrate excellent communication skills and a proactive approach
• Be committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
• Hold an enhanced DBS on the Update Service or be willing to obtain one

Experience within an education or SEND setting would be advantageous but is not essential.
