Hays is partnering with an innovative and fast-growing technology business based in Taunton to recruit a Senior Accounts Specialist on a long-term temporary basis. Supporting the finance function during a period of long-term sickness absence, you'll join a collaborative team within a forward-thinking organisation that continues to invest in its people, systems and future growth.

Your new role

As a Senior Accounts Specialist, you'll play a key role in supporting the day-to-day and month-end financial operations of the business. This will be a varied position that combines transactional, reporting and analytical responsibilities, giving you exposure to senior stakeholders across the organisation.
Key duties will include:

• Supporting month-end and year-end accounting activities
• Preparing balance sheet reconciliations, accruals and prepayments
• Assisting with management accounts and financial reporting
• Monitoring cash flow and supporting forecasting activities
• Reviewing financial processes and identifying improvements
• Supporting audit requirements and compliance activities
• Providing financial information and support to non-finance stakeholders
• Assisting the wider finance team with ad-hoc projects as required

What you'll need to succeedTo be successful in this role, you'll have previous experience within a senior accounting or finance position and be comfortable managing a varied workload in a fast-paced environment.You'll ideally have:

• Experience as a Senior Accounts Assistant, Assistant Accountant, Finance Officer or similar
• Strong month-end and reconciliation experience
• AAT qualification, ACCA/CIMA studies, or be qualified by experience
• Advanced Excel skills, including Pivot Tables and Lookup functions
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
• The ability to work independently and quickly add value
• Availability to start at short notice or immediately
