Robert Half are recruiting a Financial Controller role on a permanent basis with a growing SME based in Cheltenham. This role would suit an ambitious ACA/ACCA qualified Finance Manager seeking a step into their first Financial Controller role, or someone who's already established seeking a new challenge and an opportunity to turn a business around and add value.

The role

The Financial Controller will play a hands-on role in the development of the existing finance team as well as processes and reporting. We are seeking a technically strong accountant with an audit background who is comfortable with reporting standards and compliance. Previous experience of working in a change environment is essential with an emphasis on cashflow management. This is a visible, hands-on position sitting at the centre of the organisation, blending robust financial control with real commercial awareness. The role will involve but not be limited to:

• Providing day-to-day leadership, coaching and development for the Finance function, including the accounts payable and accounts receivable teams
• Producing high-quality monthly consolidated management accounts (P&L, balance sheet and cash flow), supported by in-depth variance analysis and clear commentary, including tour-level performance
• Overseeing complex cash management and the weekly payment cycle, and owning daily cash reporting alongside a rolling 13-week cash flow forecast
• Delivering timely, accurate balance sheet reconciliations each month across every Group entity
• Taking charge of the annual audit and working alongside the CFO to sign off the statutory accounts
• Owning VAT compliance and filings, regulatory submissions and monthly insurance reporting
• Continuing to strengthen the company's financial systems, controls and processes, including managing the risks around company credit cards
• Collaborating with the Commercial team to assess tour profitability, dig into variances and uncover opportunities for efficiencies and savings
• Assisting the CFO in building annual budgets and financial targets that support the Group's strategic objectives
• Working closely with the Senior Leadership team to deliver the strategic plan, and managing relationships with merchant service providers

Profile

• ACA/ACCA qualified with 4+ years experience.
• Practice/audit trained preferred.
• Experience of leading teams (3+).
• Strong technical understanding.
• Experience of working in a change environment or private equity environment.
• Resilient and adaptable to change.

Package:

• £70,000 - £90,000 base salary dependant on experience.
• Hybrid working: 1-2 days from home.
