Robert Half is delighted to be recruiting for a Finance Assistant on behalf of a fast-growing and ambitious business based in Telford. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced finance professional looking to join a busy and collaborative finance team within a dynamic environment.

This role will initially be offered on a temporary basis with the opportunity to become permanent for the successful candidate.

The Role

Reporting into the Finance Manager, the Finance Assistant will support the day-to-day running of the finance function, ensuring transactions are processed accurately and deadlines are met.

Key Responsibilities

• Processing purchase invoices and matching them to purchase orders
• Raising and processing sales invoices
• Managing supplier statement reconciliations
• Assisting with payment runs and supplier payments
• Posting cash receipts and allocating customer payments
• Bank reconciliations and investigation of discrepancies
• Maintaining accurate customer and supplier accounts
• Supporting credit control activities and chasing outstanding debt
• Resolving invoice, payment and account queries
• Assisting with month-end processes, including accruals and prepayments
• Preparing finance reports and spreadsheets as required
• Maintaining finance records and ensuring data accuracy
• Supporting audits and compliance activities
• Assisting with ad hoc finance and administrative duties

About You

• Previous experience within a Finance Assistant, Accounts Assistant or similar finance role
• Strong understanding of accounts payable and accounts receivable processes
• Experience with reconciliations and high-volume transaction processing
• Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel
• Strong attention to detail and organisational skills
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively
• Ability to prioritise workload and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
• AAT study or qualification would be advantageous but not essential
