MAKE SAFETY PART OF HOW GREAT ENGINEERING HAPPENS.

Steatite, part of the Solid State Group, is looking for a hands on HSE Advisor to help drive health, safety and environmental standards across our multi-site operations.

This is a genuinely multi-site, hands on role, with regular travel between our Leominster, Tewkesbury and Redditch sites forming an essential part of the working week. You will need to be comfortable travelling frequently between locations to provide visible, practical HSE support to our teams.

This isn’t an HSE role from behind a desk. Working alongside our HSE Manager, you will be out in the business, partnering with site leaders and engineering and manufacturing teams to identify risks, improve working practices and build a strong, positive safety culture.

Regular travel is a core requirement of the role, so please ensure you are able and willing to travel between all three sites before applying.

What you will be doing
  • Supporting compliance with UK health, safety and environmental legislation
  • Carrying out site inspections, audits and risk assessments
  • Supporting safe systems of work and working procedures
  • Leading and supporting incident investigations and root cause analysis
  • Monitoring corrective actions and helping ensure they are completed
  • Supporting external audits and ISO compliance activities
  • Producing HSE performance information and identifying trends
  • Delivering safety engagement, training and toolbox talks
  • Supporting HSE improvement initiatives across multiple sites
What we are looking for

You will be proactive, approachable and confident working with people at all levels. You will be comfortable spending time within operational environments and influencing others to make practical improvements.

You will need:

  • NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent as a minimum
  • HSE experience within engineering, manufacturing or workshop environments
  • Good knowledge of UK health, safety and environmental legislation
  • Experience of risk assessments and incident investigations
  • Strong communication and stakeholder skills
  • The flexibility to support multiple sites

Experience of ISO 45001, ISO 14001, multi-site operations, audits or safety training would be advantageous.

Our culture

You will join a supportive, collaborative and down to earth business where safety is everyone’s responsibility. We value people who get involved, share ideas and are prepared to challenge how things are done when there is a better or safer way.

What you will get in return

Alongside the opportunity to make a visible difference across the business, you will receive a strong benefits package including 26 days’ holiday plus bank holidays, Profit Share Scheme, pension, company sick pay, life assurance, EV Salary Sacrifice Scheme and our All Employee Share Plan.

Security requirements

Due to the nature of our work, successful candidates will be required to complete BPSS screening before commencing employment.
