Buyer – Supply Chain & Inventory
Travel: Quarterly trips to Paris
Are you an experienced Buyer who enjoys taking ownership, working independently and keeping a busy supply chain running smoothly?
We're recruiting for an established international distribution business based in the Gatwick area, looking for a proactive and commercially minded Buyer to take responsibility for UK purchasing and inventory management.
This is a hands-on role requiring someone who is self-sufficient, resourceful and confident using their own initiative. You'll need to be a natural self-starter, comfortable learning new systems and processes independently, finding solutions and getting things done without constant direction.
The Role
You'll take ownership of stock levels, purchasing and forecasting, ensuring the right products are available at the right time and in the right quantities.
Responsibilities will include:
- Managing stock levels, forecasting demand and preventing stock shortages.
- Analysing sales and stock data using Excel, ERP systems and Power BI.
- Raising purchase orders, monitoring deliveries and expediting where necessary.
- Managing excess, slow-moving and obsolete stock.
- Building relationships with UK, European and international suppliers.
- Monitoring supplier performance and resolving supply issues.
- Coordinating imports, customs documentation, freight forwarders and inbound shipments.
- Supporting new product launches, product data and catalogue updates.
- Identifying opportunities to improve purchasing processes and efficiency.
- Working closely with the wider European team, including quarterly travel to Paris.
About You
We're looking for a Buyer with substantial purchasing experience, ideally gained within a wholesale, distribution or similar environment.
You'll ideally have:
- A strong background in purchasing, stock management and forecasting.
- Experience working with international suppliers.
- Good knowledge of B2B distribution and import procedures.
- Strong Excel skills and experience with ERP systems.
- Power BI or similar reporting experience.
- Excellent organisation and attention to detail.
Just as importantly, you'll be independent, proactive and solution-focused. You'll be someone who takes responsibility, is happy to teach themselves new systems and processes, and can be trusted to manage their workload without needing constant supervision.
Experience within leisure, construction, plumbing or merchanting sectors would be advantageous, but isn't essential.
Additional Information
- Fully site-based in the Gatwick area.
- Own transport essential.
- Quarterly travel to Paris required.
- Monday–Friday, 8.30am–5.00pm.
Interested? If you're an experienced Buyer looking for a role where you can take ownership, make an impact and work as part of an international business, we'd love to hear from you.
Please note: Due to volume we are unable to respond to unsuccessful applications.
