Looking for a role where you can build your management accounting experience within an ambitious, growing business?

A leading specialist services group with a national presence is looking for an Assistant Management Accountant to join its finance team. With an established reputation for technical expertise and customers across a diverse range of industries, the business combines the scale of a larger group with the variety of a hands-on finance role.

Joining a management accounts team of three, you will support reporting across two companies, gaining exposure to how different businesses operate and what drives their performance.

This is an opportunity to move beyond simply processing the numbers. You will investigate discrepancies, understand revenue and costs, and help produce reliable financial information that supports business decisions. For a part-qualified accountant ready for broader responsibility, there is plenty here to get your teeth into.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the preparation of monthly management accounts for two companies.
  • Prepare and review balance sheet reconciliations, investigating and resolving discrepancies.
  • Review overhead expenditure, ensuring costs are accurately recorded and allocated.
  • Check revenue postings for accuracy, consistency and appropriate month-end cut-off.
  • Prepare journals, accruals and prepayments to support month-end reporting.
  • Work closely with colleagues to deliver accurate accounts within reporting deadlines.
  • Identify opportunities to improve reconciliations and reporting processes.

About you

  • Part-qualified ACCA or CIMA, AAT qualified or studying towards an equivalent qualification.
  • Previous experience assisting with management accounts and month-end reporting.
  • A sound understanding of balance sheet reconciliations and double-entry bookkeeping.
  • Confident system skills and strong attention to detail.
  • Able to work independently, investigate queries and take ownership of allocated tasks.
  • Comfortable contributing within a small, hands-on finance team.
