The business is an established manufacturing company based in Hull. They’re growing, they’re investing, and they need a Management Accountant who wants to get properly involved in the business rather than sit behind a spreadsheet all day. Reporting into the Financial Controller, you’ll own the monthly management accounts and be a go-to person for operational and commercial teams who want to understand what’s driving performance. What you’ll be doing Preparing monthly management accounts, including accruals, prepayments and balance sheet reconciliations Month-end and year-end close, working to tight reporting deadlines Preparing and submitting quarterly VAT returns, making sure they’re accurate and compliant with MTD Reviewing VAT treatment on sales and purchases, including imports, exports and EU transactions Reconciling the VAT control account and dealing with HMRC queries when they come up Variance analysis against budget and forecast, with clear commentary on what’s behind the numbers Supporting the annual budget and rolling forecasts Stock and WIP reconciliations, plus standard costing and margin analysis Working with production and operations teams to improve cost visibility Supporting the year-end audit and preparing working papers Getting involved in ad hoc projects and process improvements across the finance function What they’re looking for Qualified or part-qualified (CIMA, ACCA or ACA) Management accounting experience, ideally in manufacturing or another stock-heavy environment Hands-on VAT experience, including preparing and submitting returns Strong Excel skills and comfort working with an ERP system Someone who can explain the numbers clearly to non-finance people A proactive approach and the confidence to challenge and improve how things are done What’s on offer Salary of up to £55,000 A visible role in a business where finance has a real voice Room to develop as the business grows Bonus of up to 10% Hybrid working If this sounds like you, click apply now.
