School Caretaker (Part-Time)Hastings, East Sussex | Temporary OpportunityHays Education are currently working with an infant school in the Hastings area that is looking to appoint a reliable and proactive School Caretaker to support the day-to-day operation of the school site.This is a part-time role that would suit someone with previous care-taking, site maintenance, facilities, estates, or premises experience who enjoys working independently and takes pride in maintaining a safe and welcoming environment.Working Hours:

• Monday to Friday
• 7am - 8am
• 4pm - 5pm
• 10 hours a week.

The Role:As School Caretaker, you will be responsible for opening and securing the school premises each day, ensuring the site remains safe, secure, and well-maintained for staff, students, and visitors.Key responsibilities include:

• Opening and locking the school buildings
• Carrying out routine health and safety checks
• Undertaking basic maintenance and minor repairs
• Monitoring the security of the school site
• Reporting any maintenance issues to the relevant teams
• Assisting with the setup of rooms and school events where required
• Maintaining the cleanliness and presentation of outdoor areas

The Ideal Candidate
The successful applicant will:

• Have previous care taking, premises, facilities, or maintenance experience
• Be reliable, trustworthy, and punctual
• Have good practical and problem-solving skills
• Be able to work independently and use their own initiative
• Have a good understanding of health and safety procedures
• Be committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
