Have you used NetSuite and want to take ownership of financial accounting within a growing, private equity-backed business?
I'm working with an expanding B2B group looking for a Financial Accountant to join its finance team at an important point in its development.
The business is transitioning from Sage to NetSuite, with the new system becoming the group's primary finance platform from January 2027. With a predominantly recurring revenue model, the role offers the opportunity to combine hands-on financial accounting with revenue recognition, technical accounting and systems improvement.
Reporting to the Head of Finance, you'll take ownership of month-end accounting across multiple group entities, helping ensure the numbers are accurate, reconciled and ready for group reporting.
The roleYour responsibilities will include:
Month-end accounting: Preparing journals, accruals, prepayments and depreciation, alongside balance sheet reconciliations and resolving reconciling items.
Revenue recognition: Reviewing revenue schedules generated from Salesforce contract data, ensuring revenue is recognised in the appropriate accounting periods and investigating discrepancies.
Multi-entity accounting: Reconciling intercompany balances and preparing schedules to support group consolidation.
Technical accounting: Applying your knowledge of FRS 102, including revenue recognition principles, deferred income and other relevant contract balances.
Tax and audit: Preparing quarterly VAT returns and supporting the year-end audit, corporation tax and statutory accounts.
Payroll and expenses: Coordinating monthly payroll with the external provider, posting payroll journals and managing expense claims and corporate card reconciliations.
Systems and controls: Becoming a key NetSuite user within finance, maintaining appropriate financial controls and identifying opportunities to improve processes through automation.
You'll be an ACA, ACCA or CIMA finalist or newly qualified accountant with practical experience of financial accounting and a desire to develop your technical expertise.
Essential experience includes:
Hands-on experience using NetSuite in a finance or accounting role.
Month-end accounting, including journals and balance sheet reconciliations.
A sound understanding of FRS 102 and revenue recognition principles.
Working knowledge of UK VAT.
Strong Excel skills and confidence working with financial data.
A proactive approach to problem-solving, systems and process improvement.
Experience with recurring revenue, SaaS or subscription-based businesses would be particularly valuable, as would practical exposure to deferred income, revenue schedules and contract accounting.
Familiarity with the revised FRS 102 revenue recognition requirements would be an advantage, particularly if you've been involved in assessing their impact on accounting processes.
Why join?Get involved in a major systems transition: Help embed NetSuite across a multi-entity group and develop your expertise in the platform.
Broaden your technical experience: Gain exposure to revenue recognition, intercompany accounting, group reporting and audit.
Join a growing business: The group was acquired by private equity just over a year ago and has an ambitious buy-and-build strategy.
Develop your career: Work closely with the senior finance team in a role offering scope to grow as the business expands.
Work with modern tools: The business is investing in automation and AI to streamline finance processes and reduce routine manual work.
Location: Newbury, Berkshire, close to the train station, with parking available.
Salary: £40,000-£50,000 plus bonus & benefits.
Working pattern: Five days a week in the office.
Contract: Permanent, full time.
Start date: Ideally as soon as possible, with a preference for a shorter notice period.
If you're a finalist or newly qualified accountant with hands-on NetSuite experience and a strong grounding in financial accounting, this is an opportunity to build on that experience within a growing business.
