Casual Catering Assistants

Location: Bury Council, Various Primary Schools Across Bury and Surrounding Areas

Pay Rate: £13.45 per hour PAYE

Working Hours: Part-Time School Hours (Typically Between 9:15am - 2:30pm)

Are you looking for rewarding work within a school environment? Bury Council Schools are recruiting Casual Catering Assistants to support busy school kitchens, helping to prepare and serve nutritious meals to pupils while maintaining high standards of food safety and hygiene.

Day-to-day of the role:

As a Casual Catering Assistant, you will play an important role in supporting the smooth running of school meal services. Duties may include:

• Assisting with the preparation and serving of school meals.
• Serving food and beverages to pupils and staff.
• Maintaining portion control and presentation standards.
• Washing up and cleaning kitchen equipment.
• Clearing and sanitising dining and kitchen areas.
• Assisting with the receipt and storage of deliveries.
• Following food hygiene and health and safety procedures at all times.
• Supporting the catering team during busy lunch service periods.
• Maintaining excellent customer service when interacting with school staff and pupils.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

• A valid Enhanced DBS Certificate registered on the Update Service
• Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate
• Your own safety/steel toe cap boots
• Previous catering, kitchen, food service or school kitchen experience is desirable
• A positive, reliable and hardworking approach

Working Hours:

School catering shifts generally fall between:

9:15am - 2:30pm

Hours may vary slightly depending on the school assignment.
