Job Title: Transport Planner

Location: Preston area, Lancashire (on-site)
Salary: £30,000 - £32,000 DOE + Benefits
Job Type: Full-time, Permanent, Tuesday to Saturday

Loom Talent is recruiting a Transport Planner on behalf of a long-established, privately owned food business in Lancashire. It supplies major UK retailers alongside a wider mix of trade and third-party customers.

You'll join a close-knit, open-plan transport office, working alongside fellow planners and the driver desk on a shared, UK-wide plan from Scotland to the south coast. It's a busy, varied role and you'll handle problem solving as much as plan building.

What you'll be doing:

  • Building and adjusting the daily transport plan as part of the planning team, covering inbound collections, temperature-controlled deliveries and third-party work.
  • Solving problems live as the day unfolds, re-planning when drivers run out of hours, jobs change or issues come up on the road
  • Liaising with customers, drivers and site teams to keep work moving and vehicles well utilised.
  • Using planning and vehicle tracking systems to keep the plan accurate and up to date, in line with drivers' hours and WTD rules.

What we're looking for:

  • Proven transport planning experience. This is essential, and food or temperature-controlled experience is a real advantage.
  • Confident use of planning software and vehicle tracking tools.
  • Good working knowledge of drivers' hours rules and the Working Time Directive.
  • A team player who enjoys a lively, collaborative office and stays calm when the plan changes.
  • Living within a reasonable commute of the Preston area, ideally around 40 minutes.

Why apply:

  • A stable, growing business with a strong reputation in its sector.
  • Genuine internal progression, with several team members recently promoted from within.
  • Varied, UK-wide planning work across own-account and third-party customers.
  • Company pension, life insurance and free on-site parking.
  • Permanent position, with an immediate need for the right candidate.
