K requires a high level of complex care and support, particularly with respiratory management, gastrostomy feeding, medication administration, personal care, mobility and hoisting. During the shift, carers are also responsible for collecting K from school and assisting her with changing continence pads, toileting, and other personal care needs. Carers must provide consistent, compassionate support while promoting K’s independence, dignity, comfort and emotional wellbeing.
