My client is a highly regarded firm with a nationally recognised Intellectual Property team. The team advises an impressive portfolio of businesses, from major listed companies to SMEs, across sectors including retail and consumer, financial services, defence, pharmaceuticals and engineering. With a strong focus on commercial IP strategy, the firm offers a collaborative working environment, high-quality work and a clear framework for career development and progression.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced IP Lawyer to take a leading role across a broad range of primarily non contentious intellectual property matters. You will advise on complex commercial arrangements, manage client relationships and support businesses in protecting, commercialising and exploiting their IP assets. The role will also provide exposure to wider corporate transactions and contentious IP matters, working alongside colleagues across the wider practice.
Responsibilities
• Leading and advising on a variety of IP transactions and commercial agreements
• Drafting and negotiating IP asset purchase agreements, patent, trade mark and software licences, R&D agreements, technology transfer agreements, confidentiality agreements and franchise agreements
• Advising clients on the protection, commercialisation and strategic exploitation of intellectual property rights
• Supporting corporate transactions, including mergers and acquisitions, asset sales and security arrangements involving IP assets
• Working collaboratively with colleagues on IP infringement, enforcement and dispute related matters
• Building and maintaining strong client relationships, providing commercially focused advice aligned with clients' wider business objectives
• Managing multiple matters and workstreams effectively, ensuring deadlines are met and clients receive a high standard of service
Requirements
• Qualified solicitor with 4-8 PQE
• Strong experience handling transactional and non contentious IP matters
• Confidence leading matters independently and managing client relationships
• A strategic, consultative and commercially minded approach to legal advice
• Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and work to deadlines
• Experience in registered IP prosecution, portfolio strategy, corporate transactions or defence related work would be advantageous
• Sector experience in retail and consumer, advanced manufacturing or life sciences would be beneficial
• An IP postgraduate qualification would be desirable but is not essential
