Sociology Teacher - KS5

Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience
Contract: Temporary, until January 2027
Hours: Part-time - Monday to Wednesday (3 days per week)

Are you an enthusiastic and dedicated Sociology Teacher with the ability to engage and inspire post-16 students? We are seeking a passionate and supportive teacher, delivering Sociology at KS5.

The Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching Sociology at KS5, working with students across a range of abilities. The focus will be on delivering accessible, engaging lessons, developing subject knowledge and supporting students to make progress.

Key responsibilities include:

• Plan and deliver engaging Sociology lessons at KS5, adapting content to meet students' individual learning needs.
• Teach topics across the Sociology curriculum, encouraging students to develop their understanding of society, culture, social structures and contemporary issues.
• Break down complex sociological concepts into accessible and manageable learning activities.
• Support students with written work, essay development, critical thinking and examination preparation.
• Monitor student progress and provide constructive feedback to encourage improvement.
• Promote positive behaviour, student engagement and a supportive classroom environment.
• Work collaboratively with colleagues to support the wider learning and development of students.

Person Specification

The ideal candidate will:

• Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or have relevant teaching experience.
• Have experience teaching Sociology at KS5 or a strong background in a related subject.
• Possess good subject knowledge and the ability to communicate sociological concepts effectively.
• Be confident supporting students of mixed abilities, including those working at foundation level.
• Demonstrate strong classroom management and the ability to engage and motivate learners.
• Be adaptable, approachable and committed to supporting student progress.
