We are seeking a Domestic Abuse Practitioner to join a commissioned support service on an interim basis. This is an urgent opportunity for an experienced professional who can support adult victims of domestic abuse across all risk levels, complete holistic family needs assessments, and deliver tailored short- to medium-term interventions. The Domestic Abuse Practitioner will work as part of a multidisciplinary team and play a key role in helping families access practical, emotional, and safety-focused support.

Day-to-day of the role

  • Manage a part-time caseload, supporting adult victims and survivors of domestic abuse across a range of risk levels.
  • Complete whole-family needs assessments for each referral, considering safety, risk, and practical support requirements.
  • Develop and deliver tailored support plans of up to 12 sessions, sequencing interventions for different family members where needed.
  • Carry out appointments in the office, in clients’ homes, and in community settings, including home visits.
  • Work closely with colleagues across family support, social work, mental health, and substance use services to provide joined-up support.
  • Attend relevant meetings such as case conferences, call groups, child-in-need meetings, and domestic abuse clinics within wider family services.
  • Contribute to biweekly family formulation sessions, including a required Tuesday afternoon meeting.
  • Maintain accurate case records and ensure support is delivered in line with safeguarding and service expectations.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience supporting victims or survivors of domestic abuse is preferred.
  • Background in services such as IDVA support, family support, local authority settings, or similar frontline environments would be beneficial.
  • Ability to complete needs assessments and deliver tailored support plans for individuals and families.
  • Experience working with challenging or complex cohorts, with strong engagement and relationship-building skills.
  • Good understanding of safeguarding, risk assessment, and practical safety planning.
  • Confident working independently while also contributing effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Experience using case management or recording systems is helpful.
  • A driving licence and access to a vehicle would be useful, but this is not essential.

Benefits

  • Flexible part-time working pattern, with scope to discuss suitable hours and days.
  • Mileage reimbursement for drivers and transport expenses available for non-drivers.
  • Strong management, supervision, and joint-working support from an established multidisciplinary team.
  • Opportunity to work in a collaborative service environment with integrated family-focused support.
  • Varied and meaningful work supporting adults and families affected by domestic abuse.
