Are you a confident, engaging and proactive Cover Supervisor looking for your next opportunity?

Astro Education is working with secondary schools across Salford and Greater Manchester to recruit enthusiastic and confident Cover Supervisors to support students across Key Stages 3 and 4.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with previous experience working in schools who can confidently manage a classroom, engage students and ensure learning continues in the absence of the regular teacher.

You will be delivering pre-planned lessons across a range of subjects, maintaining a positive learning environment and keeping students focused, motivated and on task.

Whether you're an experienced Cover Supervisor or an aspiring teacher looking to gain valuable classroom experience, this role offers the opportunity to develop your skills and make a real difference in secondary education.

The Role
  • Deliver pre-planned lessons across a variety of subjects to KS3 and KS4 students.
  • Maintain strong classroom management and ensure students remain focused, engaged and on task.
  • Follow lesson plans and school procedures to ensure continuity of learning.
  • Build positive relationships with students and encourage participation.
  • Adapt confidently to different subjects, classes and classroom environments.
  • Support a safe, inclusive and positive learning environment.
  • Demonstrate initiative, professionalism and a proactive approach throughout the school day.
The Ideal Candidate
  • Has previous experience working in a secondary school or a similar educational setting.
  • Is confident, resilient and capable of maintaining strong classroom control.
  • Has excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Can engage students of varying abilities and keep them motivated.
  • Is adaptable and comfortable covering a wide range of subjects.
  • Is proactive, enthusiastic and willing to go the extra mile.
  • Has a genuine passion for education and supporting young people.
  • Is an aspiring teacher or someone keen to develop a long-term career in education.

We're looking for a real go-getter — someone who can walk into an unfamiliar classroom, take control, build rapport quickly and ensure students make the most of their learning time.

The ability to think on your feet, remain calm under pressure and bring energy and enthusiasm into the classroom is essential.
