An Excellent Opportunity to Join the Management Team

We are seeking an experienced and proactive Human Resources Manager to join the Management Team at Beaumont College, Lancaster.

This is an exciting opportunity for an established HR professional to take responsibility for the effective delivery of operational HR services across allocated divisions. Occasional travel to other college locations across the UK will be required.

Working closely with the HR Business Partner (HRBP), you will support the implementation of the organisation's People Plan, ensuring HR practices contribute to the safe, effective and compliant delivery of business objectives.

You will provide confident, commercially focused HR advice and guidance to managers, taking ownership of a broad range of employee relations matters. This will include disciplinary, grievance, performance and absence management, ensuring all matters are handled fairly, consistently and in accordance with organisational policies and employment legislation.

You will also play an active role in HR projects, organisational change, management development, workforce reporting and continuous improvement initiatives, escalating complex, sensitive or high-risk matters to the HR Business Partner as appropriate.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES of HR Manager

• Provide professional HR advice, guidance and support to managers across the college.

• Manage employee relations matters, including disciplinary, grievance, absence and performance management.

• Support the recruitment, selection, induction and retention of academic and support staff.

• Ensure HR policies, procedures and employment practices comply with current employment legislation.

• Support organisational change, workforce planning and succession planning.

• Coordinate staff training, development and performance review processes.

• Maintain accurate and confidential employee records and HR management information.

• Promote equality, diversity, inclusion and positive employee relations.

• Contribute to HR projects and initiatives designed to improve organisational effectiveness.

• Provide regular HR reports and management information to support decision-making.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS for HR Manager

• Degree in Human Resource Management, Business Management or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant professional experience.

• CIPD Level 5 qualification or above (Level 7 desirable).

• Sound knowledge of UK employment legislation and HR best practice.

HR Manager EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

The successful candidate will ideally demonstrate:

• A minimum of 3-5 years' experience in a generalist HR role.

• Previous experience in an HR management or supervisory position.

• Strong experience in employee relations and case management.

• Proven ability to advise and support managers on complex people-related matters.

• Experience in recruitment, performance management and organisational change.

• Excellent communication, interpersonal and influencing skills.

• Strong organisational, analytical and problem-solving abilities.

• The ability to manage competing priorities and work effectively within a busy management environment.

• Previous experience within a college, education or care environment would be advantageous.
