Floating Quarry Operative

Hourly Rate – £15.54 per hour
Hours – 47.75 Hours per week
Location & Postcode – Darrington Quarry, WF11 0AY

As a Floating Quarry Operative at FCC Environment, you will operate mobile and fixed quarry plant across various locations within the operating area, helping to maintain safe and efficient quarry operations. You will be based at Darrington Quarry but will provide cover across the quarries business as required.

This vacancy is for a full-time position.

What will you be doing?

- Operating mobile and fixed plant safely and in accordance with manufacturers’ operating instructions and site safe systems of work.
- Operating across various quarry locations within the business as required.
- Completing daily pre-start inspections and reporting any defects with plant or equipment.
- Ensuring quarry production levels are maintained safely and to schedule.
- Maintaining inspection systems and checklists in accordance with the IMS system.
- Examining materials produced to ensure a high-quality product is maintained.
- Carrying out basic preventative maintenance tasks on mobile and fixed plant.
- Working in accordance with the Environmental Management System and promoting environmentally considerate working practices.
- Travelling between sites as required at the direction of the Operations Manager.

What are we looking for?

- Experience of working within quarrying.
- Knowledge, experience and/or qualifications in mobile plant operations.
- Experience of operating equipment such as wheeled loading shovels, articulated dumpers and tracked excavators.
- A strong commitment to health and safety and safe working practices.
- A commitment and determination to meet personal objectives, with strong drive and resilience.
- The ability to work collaboratively at all levels.
- The ability to re-evaluate priorities and respond quickly and positively to change.
- A performance-driven approach with the ability to contribute to improvements in operational performance.
- Flexibility to routinely travel between quarry sites as required.
