Job Title: Secondary English Tutor Location: Wirral Hours: 5-15 hours per week Start Date: October 2026 Duration: Ongoing About the Role Prospero Teaching is seeking an enthusiastic English Tutor to provide tailored academic support to secondary-aged learners who need help strengthening their literacy skills and making progress in English. You will deliver engaging one-to-one sessions designed around each learner's abilities, helping them improve their written work, comprehension and confidence in preparation for school assessments and GCSE examinations where appropriate. Key Responsibilities Deliver personalised English tuition at KS3 and GCSE level, as appropriate Support reading comprehension, spelling, grammar and written expression Develop examination technique and analytical skills Identify learning gaps and set achievable targets Adapt resources and teaching methods to suit individual learners Experience, Training and Qualifications QTS, PGCE or equivalent relevant qualification desirable Strong English Language and English Literature subject knowledge Previous teaching or tutoring experience Experience supporting learners who require additional academic support Excellent communication and organisational skills Essential Requirements Right to work in the UK Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain the required clearance Two professional references Prospero Teaching is acting as an employment business and education recruitment agency in relation to this vacancy
