HR Officer

Monday to Friday, 8:30am - 4:30pm

We are seeking an experienced HR Officer to join a busy and supportive HR team. This is a varied generalist role offering exposure to employee relations, recruitment, compliance, payroll, HR administration and people projects.

The Role

• Provide professional HR advice and guidance to managers and employees across a range of HR matters.
• Support employee relations cases including disciplinary, grievance, performance, capability and absence management.
• Maintain and audit the Single Central Register (SCR), ensuring compliance with safeguarding and regulatory requirements.
• Manage recruitment campaigns from advert creation through to onboarding.
• Oversee pre-employment checks including DBS, right to work and reference checks.
• Support onboarding, probation reviews and employee lifecycle administration.
• Administer payroll changes and resolve payroll-related queries.
• Monitor sickness absence and support managers with absence management processes.
• Maintain accurate HR records, reports and documentation.
• Assist with learning and development initiatives, wellbeing programmes and HR projects.
• Review and update HR policies, procedures and best practice guidance.

About You

• Previous experience in a generalist HR role.
• CIPD qualified or working towards qualification, or equivalent HR experience.
• Strong understanding of employment law and HR best practice.
• Experience handling employee relations matters.
• Recruitment and onboarding experience.
• Payroll administration experience would be advantageous.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
• Strong organisational skills with a high level of attention to detail.
• Confident using HR systems, Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
