Location: Across Lincolnshire

Rate: £25 to £32 per hour

Contract: Flexible, self-employed, term-time work

About the Role

We're looking for passionate SEN professionals to deliver 1:1 tuition and support to children and young people across Lincolnshire who are currently out of mainstream education or need extra support to re-engage with their learning.

Placements are available across Lincolnshire, including areas such as Lincoln, Boston, Grantham, Spalding, Sleaford and Stamford, supporting learners with a range of special educational needs, including autism, ADHD and social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs. Many of the young people have had disrupted education, so the focus is on building trust, rebuilding confidence and helping them make steady progress.

This is a great opportunity for someone with a background in SEN education, support work or mentoring who wants flexible, rewarding work close to home.

You don't need previous tutoring experience to apply. You must, however, have experience supporting children or young people with SEN on a 1:1 basis, for example in a school, specialist or alternative provision, residential setting or through support work.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver tailored 1:1 sessions to children and young people with SEN, in line with their EHCP or individual learning plan where relevant.
  • Plan and adapt activities to each learner's needs and abilities, including English, maths and Functional Skills where appropriate.
  • Support engagement, confidence, emotional regulation and personal development.
  • Build positive, trusting relationships with learners who may have struggled in education.
  • Provide a safe, calm and encouraging learning environment.
  • Keep brief session notes and share progress with the referring team.
  • Work flexibly across home, school and community settings, depending on the placement.

Requirements

  • Essential: experience supporting children or young people with SEN on a 1:1 basis.
  • Confidence working with learners with autism, ADHD, SEMH needs, anxiety or challenging behaviour.
  • A patient, calm and adaptable approach.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one.
  • Right to work in the UK.
  • Own transport is beneficial, as placements are spread across the county.

QTS/QTLS and previous tutoring experience are not essential, provided you have relevant SEN and 1:1 support experience.

Working Hours and Pay

  • £25 to £32 per hour, depending on the placement.
  • Flexible, term-time work, generally Monday to Friday during school hours.
  • Sessions take place in the learner's home, school or a suitable community setting.
  • Work available across Lincolnshire.
  • Self-employed, ideal if you want flexible hours or to add sessions around existing work.

Who Would Suit This Role?

SEN Teaching Assistants, Learning Support Assistants, HLTAs, Behaviour Mentors, SEN Support Workers, Youth Workers and other professionals with experience supporting young people with additional needs.

If you have 1:1 SEN experience and want flexible work that makes a real difference to young people in Lincolnshire, we'd love to hear from you!
