HR Operations Manager (Interim - 6 Week Assignment)

Are you an experienced HR professional who thrives on improving processes, driving compliance and leading teams through change?

We're seeking an Interim HR Operations Manager to join a busy organisation on a 6-week assignment, supporting a critical HR transformation project. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who can quickly assess current ways of working, identify areas for improvement, and implement robust, compliant HR processes.

The Role

Reporting to the Head of People & Development, you will be responsible for reviewing existing HR operations, strengthening compliance procedures, and managing an established HR team.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Reviewing and redesigning HR processes to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
• Taking ownership of HR compliance activities, with a particular focus on safer recruitment and safeguarding requirements.
• Managing and supporting a team of five direct reports.
• Identifying process gaps and implementing sustainable improvements.
• Providing operational leadership across HR administration and payroll-related activities.
• Supporting the organisation in addressing compliance risks and ensuring best practice is followed.

About You

To be successful in this role, you'll have:

• Previous experience in a HR Operations Manager, HR Manager or similar leadership role.
• Strong knowledge of HR compliance and safer recruitment practices.
• Experience managing and developing teams.
• The ability to quickly assess challenges, make recommendations and deliver improvements.
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
• A proactive, hands-on approach and the confidence to challenge existing processes.

Public sector experience would be highly desirable, although candidates from the private sector with strong transferable HR compliance experience will also be considered.

CIPD qualification is beneficial but not essential.

Working Arrangements

• 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday.
• Hybrid working with a minimum of two days per week on-site in Peterborough.
• Free on-site parking available.
• Immediate start available.
