Your Role as a Graduate Teaching Assistant

In your Graduate Teaching Assistant role, you will help children participate in lessons while learning from the teaching and support staff around you.

• Reinforce classroom learning through individual support and focused small-group activities.
• Use teacher-provided resources to support early literacy, numeracy and communication.
• Encourage participation and help pupils practise strategies for managing classroom routines.
• Keep useful observations on engagement and progress, sharing them with the class teacher.

What We Are Looking For in a Graduate Teaching Assistant

• A degree in Psychology, Education, Childhood Studies or another relevant discipline.
• An approachable Graduate Teaching Assistant who listens carefully and follows guidance consistently.
• School experience is not essential; experience through mentoring, tutoring, care or volunteering is welcome.
• Enhanced DBS on the update service, or willingness to apply for one, alongside satisfactory safeguarding checks.
