Senior Accountant

Lancaster based (Hybrid model - 2 days in the office)

Salary to £50,000 plus excellent benefits package

Reed are currently supporting a well-respected, fast growing local practice with the recruitment of a qualified accountant who is looking for a role where you can combine technical accounting expertise with genuine client advisory work?

Our client is looking for a Senior Accountant with strong general practice experience to manage a varied portfolio of sole traders, partnerships and limited companies. You’ll take ownership of client relationships, deliver high-quality accounts prep and tax work, and provide proactive advice to help clients make better financial decisions.

The Role

This is a varied, client-facing position with responsibilities including:

• Managing a portfolio of clients and acting as a key point of contact.
• Preparing statutory financial statements and management accounts.
• Completing corporate, personal and VAT tax returns.
• Managing bookkeeping, bank reconciliations and accurate financial records.
• Supporting month-end, quarter-end and year-end processes.
• Advising clients on tax planning, salaries, dividends and financial strategy.
• Providing guidance around cash flow, budgeting and forecasting.
• Helping clients improve their financial systems, processes and controls.
• Identifying opportunities to provide additional advisory and business support services.
• Keeping clients informed of relevant legislative and industry developments.

Leadership & Development

Alongside managing your own workload, you’ll have the opportunity to support the wider accounting team. This will include reviewing work, providing constructive feedback, coaching colleagues and helping to drive accountability and performance.

The successful candidate will be comfortable managing competing deadlines, maintaining high standards of accuracy and compliance, and explaining financial matters clearly to clients. You’ll also be proactive in identifying ways to improve processes and deliver additional value to clients.
