Accounts Receivable & Credit Control Specialist

Location: Hybrid working, 2 days per week in the office

Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience

We are recruiting an experienced Accounts Receivable & Credit Control Specialist to join a growing retail business. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys taking ownership of the sales ledger, investigating discrepancies and improving processes within a busy, multi-channel environment.

Working closely with the wider Finance team, you will oversee sales ledger activity across stores, ecommerce, concessions and wholesale customers, ensuring accurate reconciliations, strong financial controls and timely reporting.

Key responsibilities

  • Take ownership of the end-to-end sales ledger process, including sales, returns, receipts and reconciliations.
  • Reconcile sales across multiple channels, including stores, ecommerce, concessions and wholesale.
  • Manage daily, weekly and monthly reconciliations, investigating and resolving discrepancies.
  • Act as the main finance contact for sales ledger and customer account queries.
  • Support month-end and year-end processes, including balance sheet reconciliations, audit requests and reporting.
  • Maintain and improve financial controls to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Produce analysis and reporting to support Finance and wider business teams.
  • Work with the Transactional Finance Manager on system enhancements, UAT testing, automation and process improvements.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline processes and reduce reliance on manual spreadsheets.
  • Build strong working relationships across Finance, Retail Operations, Ecommerce and IT.

What we're looking for

  • At least 3 years' experience in Sales Ledger, Accounts Receivable or Order-to-Cash.
  • Experience managing complex reconciliations within a multi-site or high-volume transactional environment.
  • Advanced Excel skills, including Pivot Tables, XLOOKUPs, SUMIFS and data analysis.
  • A good understanding of financial controls, balance sheet reconciliations and month-end processes.
  • Experience using an ERP system such as NetSuite, SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics or similar.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build relationships across different teams.
  • A proactive, organised and solutions-focused approach, with excellent attention to detail.
  • The ability to work independently, prioritise workloads and take ownership of issues through to resolution.

Desirable experience

  • Systems such as Shopify, NetSuite, Merret or Board.
  • Payment provider reconciliations, including Klarna, PayPal, Shopify Payments or Global-e.
  • Involvement in system implementations, UAT testing or finance process improvement projects.
