National Account Manager - Food Packaging
Location: Field based, ideally located Midlands/South
Salary: £50,000 - £55,000 per annum + Company Car & Bonus

An established distributor of food packaging and non-food consumables is looking for a commercially driven National Account Manager to join its growing National Accounts team.

You will be responsible for developing customer relationships, maximising sales and profitability, and identifying opportunities to increase share of wallet across multi-site foodservice businesses.

This is a hands-on, field-based role combining strategic account management with a strong focus on new business development. You will be expected to protect and grow existing revenue while proactively identifying and winning new national accounts to support the wider business growth strategy.

Key responsibilities include:

• Develop strong relationships across an existing portfolio, identifying opportunities to increase product penetration, retain business and maximise account profitability.
• Proactively identify, research and secure new national account opportunities through networking, prospecting and targeted business development activity.
• Take ownership of account performance, implementing strategies to grow turnover, improve margins and achieve agreed commercial objectives.
• Understand customer requirements, uncover gaps in the current product offering and win back lost business wherever possible.
• Implement price changes and negotiate commercially effective solutions to protect margins while maintaining strong customer relationships.
• Prepare business cases for printed and bespoke stock opportunities, considering sales potential, profitability, stockholding requirements and commercial terms.
• Research and qualify new business prospects, maintaining an accurate pipeline and ensuring opportunities align with the National Accounts team's objectives.
• Conduct regular face-to-face meetings, gather market intelligence and maintain accurate records to support effective account planning and business development.

We are looking for an ambitious and commercially aware sales professional with experience selling commercial catering equipment, refrigeration, or related capital equipment solutions.

The ideal candidate will have:

• Proven experience in a National Account Manager or similar sales role, ideally within food packaging, non-food consumables, foodservice distribution or a related sector.
• An established network of contacts within the non-food sector, with experience selling into multi-site foodservice, HORECA or food-to-go businesses.
• A strong understanding of the products used by national foodservice operators, including food packaging and associated non-food consumables.
• A commercially minded approach, with the ability to balance revenue growth, margin improvement and long-term customer relationships.
• A proactive new business developer who is confident identifying prospects, opening doors and converting opportunities into profitable accounts.
• Excellent relationship-building and presentation skills, with the confidence to engage stakeholders at all levels.
• Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage your own diary, prioritise activity and maintain accurate customer and pipeline records.
• A self-motivated, innovative and target-driven approach, combined with the ability to work collaboratively within a national sales team.
