Principal Software Engineer

£90 – 100k basic

Hybrid – must be commutable to Portsmouth once a month

A key member of the Software Development team, you’ll be working on a growing SaaS product suite with clear commercial impact — features you build can materially move revenue.

As the Principal Software Engineer, you'll have hands-on end-to-end ownership of projects, from product discovery and architecture through to implementation. There is heavy adoption of AI tooling (agentic AI) in the team and there's an opportunity to upskill on cutting edge developer workflows.

You’ll also be involved in the important, strategic conversations and will bring your creative thinking and ideas to the table, always looking at the bigger picture and what’s next.

Although extremely well established with a huge customer base, they are continuing to grow and develop new products whilst embracing AI and its capabilities.

What you’ll bring…

As a well established Principal Software Engineer, you’ll have both a technical and commercial mindset when it comes to designing and building systems.

Other skills and knowledge you’ll bring:

• Experience across all areas of full stack development and ideally in large scale SaaS platforms.
• Strong knowledge and experience in TypeScript.
• Other technical knowledge required includes NodeJS, SQL and AWS.
• Forward thinking approach to producing quality software development and utilising AI.
• Experience of working in mature CI/CD environments and following DevSecOps methodologies.
