Switchboard Operator

£25,000-£30,000 DOE | Monday to Friday, 9am-5.30pm

We are recruiting for a confident, quick-thinking Switchboard operator to join a busy office in Olney.
This is a fast-paced, telephone-focused role where you'll be responsible for handling a high volume of incoming calls and getting callers through to the right person or department quickly and efficiently.
We're looking for someone who is naturally sharp, decisive and confident on the phone. You'll need to think on your feet, quickly understand what callers need and take control of conversations without letting them become unnecessarily drawn out.
What you'll be doing:

• Managing a busy incoming telephone switchboard.
• Quickly identifying the reason for each call and directing it appropriately.
• Handling a constant flow of calls professionally and efficiently.
• Taking clear, accurate messages where needed.
• Dealing confidently with a range of callers, including more challenging enquiries.

What we're looking for:

• Previous experience in a busy switchboard, call centre or high-volume telephone role is essential.
• Excellent telephone manner and communication skills.
• Quick-thinking, confident and decisive.
• Able to work at pace while maintaining accuracy.
• Comfortable taking control of conversations and dealing with demanding callers.

This role would suit someone who enjoys being busy, thinks quickly and has the confidence to manage a high volume of calls without losing focus.

Salary: £25,000-£30,000 depending on experience
Hours: Monday to Friday, 9am-5.30pm
Location: Olney, Buckinghamshire
Working arrangement: Full-time, office-based
