Assistant Management Accountant (Part-Time, 30 hrs)

About the role
Reporting to the Financial Controller, you will help keep the finance function running efficiently by ensuring transactions are processed accurately, records are kept to a high standard and management information is produced on time. This is a varied, hands-on role with exposure across multiple areas of finance, within a growing business.

Package and working pattern

• £38,000 FTE (£30,400 pro rata for 30 hours per week)
• 30-hour working week
• 9:00am-3:00pm or 9:30am-3:30pm, Monday to Friday
• Hybrid working, with up to two days per week from home
• Varied role with exposure across multiple areas of finance

Key responsibilities

• Purchase ledger: processing supplier invoices, reconciling supplier statements and preparing payment runs
• Sales ledger: raising customer invoices and credit notes, processing refunds and adjustments, and reconciling customer accounts
• Daily and monthly bank reconciliations, posting receipts and payments, and credit card reconciliations
• Month-end support: balance sheet reconciliations, accruals, prepayments, journals and monthly management accounts
• Assisting with quarterly VAT returns and maintaining supporting documentation
• Producing regular sales and financial reports, and maintaining reporting spreadsheets and dashboards
• Maintaining financial records in Xero, supporting CRM and billing systems, and contributing to process improvements

About you

Essential

• Previous experience in a finance, accounting or bookkeeping role
• Good understanding of double-entry bookkeeping
• Experience with accounting softwares, ideally Xero
• Strong Microsoft Excel skills
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy

Desirable

• AAT qualified or studying towards AAT, ACCA, CIMA or similar
• Experience supporting month-end processes and VAT preparation
• Experience with CRM systems
• SME experience
