Assistant Site Services Officer/School Caretaker

Based Leytonstone, East London

Full-Time | £29,500 per annum

We are seeking a reliable and proactive Assistant Site Services Officer / Caretaker to support the day-to-day running of the school site, ensuring a safe, secure, clean, and welcoming environment for pupils, staff, and visitors.

Hours

Rotating weekly shifts Monday to Friday:

• 6:00am - 2:00pm
• 10:00am - 6:00pm

Some flexibility for occasional lettings, weekends, and emergency call-outs may be required.

Key Responsibilities

• Opening and locking school buildings and grounds
• Carrying out routine security checks and operating alarms/CCTV
• Undertaking minor repairs and basic maintenance
• Supporting heating, lighting, and site systems
• Litter picking, waste management, gritting, and emergency cleaning
• Supervising contractors and supporting cleaning staff
• Assisting with deliveries, furniture moves, and site set-ups
• Promoting high standards of health, safety, and site security

About You

• Experience in caretaking, facilities, maintenance, or a similar role
• Practical DIY and maintenance skills
• Able to work independently and use initiative
• Good communication and organisational skills
• Flexible, reliable, and committed to maintaining a safe school environment
