FindCore are thrilled to be assisting an established precision engineering business with the recruitment of an experienced CNC Milling Programmer / Setter.

Permanent, full-time position. This role will be based at the company’s Birmingham site.

The business specialises in low-volume and prototype machining, fixtures, specialist components and precision engineering for sectors including aerospace, automotive, medical and nuclear.

Salary

£18.00–£22.00 per hour, depending on experience

• regular overtime paid at 1.5x hourly rate

Working Hours

Monday to Thursday: 8:00am–4:30pm

Friday: 8:00am–2:00pm

Key Responsibilities

• Programme, set and operate 3-axis and 5-axis CNC machining centres.
• Produce one-off, prototype and low-volume precision components from engineering drawings.
• Work confidently with Mazatrol and/or Heidenhain controls.
• Manufacture components to tight tolerances and required quality standards.
• Select appropriate tooling, feeds and speeds for each job.
• Design or manufacture fixtures and jigs where required.
• Inspect finished components using appropriate measuring equipment.
• Ensure production lead times and delivery deadlines are achieved.
• Complete relevant production paperwork and shop-floor data accurately.
• Carry out routine preventative maintenance on machinery.
• Maintain a clean, safe and organised working environment.

Skills & Experience

• Experience within CNC milling, programming, setting and operating.
• Confident reading and working from engineering drawings.
• Experience with 3-axis and/or 5-axis machining centres is preferred
• Strong knowledge of Mazatrol and/or Heidenhain or Siemens controls.
• Ability to work accurately to tight tolerances.
• Confident using precision measuring and inspection equipment.
• Self-motivated with the ability to manage jobs from initial material through to finished component.
• Experience using conventional machinery such as centre lathes, turret mills or surface grinders would be advantageous.
• CAD and quality-systems experience would also be beneficial.
